What's in a name?
All right so my big boss (to be referred to as Prof. Jabba Pork from now on) does not know how to spell my name. After a year of working under him, he still doesn't know how to spell my name-I don't even know if he even knows my name. The worst part is that my name has the exact same pronounciation as a Korean word! Frankly, I find it insulting that Jabba Pork doesn't know my name! In a formal letter, he sent me, he called my Prof. Dishy. To be honest, couldn't this appear to be sexual harassment. It's kind of like saying Dear Prof. Hottie isn't it? Hey u, Dishy...what are you up to this weekend?-This can totally be construed as being inappropriate, right? I really would like to, one day, have a boss who can write my name and say it correctly. I mean...in Korea...I really don't think Professors whose names are Park or Lee would like it if I called them Prof. Prick or Prof. Pee-well, to their faces I mean. (Perhaps behind their backs would be o.k.). Anyway, I still don't understand how they can screw up my name! It's not like I have a very long last name...it isn't Kawadlaiagaontraigijigaga-although there's nothing wrong with this last name. If I ever had children, I wouldn't mind giving them a last name like that-in a way..they would definitely have an edge in learning the alphabet quicker than most! Maybe I should have a last name like that...so that Jabba Pork can work on his English skills. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents...if you have any further thoughts on this matter..feel free to comment.
